Review

The Sonos Era 300 has six class-D amplifiers, four tweeters, and two woofers. These help it produce a better stereo sound, give your audio more height, and fill spaces better. The speaker only has a USB-C port for power, line-in, and ethernet. If you want to connect the speaker to a device such as a CD player, you’ll need to get the Sonos combo adapter which costs about $50.

The Era 300 does have a lot of wireless options, such as WiFi, Bluetooth 5.0, Apple Airplay 2, Alexa, and voice control, and it can be controlled from the Sonos app as well.

Setup is fairly easy, and you need to set up your speaker with the Sonos app. If you get multiple speakers, you have to set them up individually and make them stereo pairs. If you want to unlink the speakers or move them to a new space, you will first have to unlink them from each other and from the app, and then set it up all again.

If you want to change the Era 300s from stereo speakers to surround speakers, you must do the same thing. Also, you cannot use Bluetooth, line-in, and Airplay while in surround sound mode. On the brighter side, the Sonos app also supports Apple Music natively, which is something we haven’t seen before.

Once we did get past the setup, the Sonos Era 300 worked flawlessly. it sounded good for movies, music, and gaming. it can be used with Dolby Atmos, and dialogues in movies and vocals in music sound clear and fill up the room. The bass was impressive for the size of the speaker, but it can still be improved. We paired this speaker with the Sonos Arc and got the best spatial audio we have ever seen. If you do use your speakers with a soundbar, we recommend pairing them with Sonos soundbars as the setup is faster and quicker.

User Reviews

Customers like the ease of installation, quality, and sound quality of the speakers. They mention that it’s easy to hook into the system, has a nice base, and that it has great multi-directional sound dispersion. That said, opinions are mixed on connectivity.

Verdict

The Sonos Era 300 impresses in all applications, and we do recommend this speaker to everyone for their home theatre. However, we do want Sonos to take a look at their setup and their app because unlinking and pairing the Era 300 takes a lot of time.
