SourcePoint V10 Master Edition from MoFi and Andrew Jones

MoFi Electronics just launched a new series of loudspeakers in collaboration with the legendary speaker designer Andrew Jones. This series includes the SourcePoint V10 Master Edition loudspeakers, MoFi’s new flagships. These speakers feature twin 10-inch woofers and dual rear-firing passive radiators, combining to make a three-way tower speaker. The V10 Master Edition retails for £8,800 per pair, with additional magnetic grilles selling for £270.

Overview

The design

The SourcePoint V10 Master Editions come in two real-wood veneer finishes, Walnut and Black Ash. With your purchase, you have the option to get black or grey magnetic grilles for an extra £270.

The cabinets are book-matched and sealed with a satin coat to bring out the natural grain. The one-inch-thick closed cabinets use SourcePoint’s multi-faceted baffle, which uses angled planes around each driver to reduce diffraction and reflections. Each woofer and passive radiator sits in its own isolated chamber to reduce cabinet resonance and maximise bass output.

The drivers

For the V10 Master Editions, Andrew Jones expanded upon the original two-way SourcePoint 10 loudspeakers and added dual 10-inch woofers and two 10-inch passive radiators. The V10’s three-way system allows each driver to handle a dedicated range of frequencies, and leaves the 10-inch concentric driver to focus on the midrange and treble.

The crossover

The SourcePoint V10 Master Edition loudspeakers also get a new built-in tunable crossover network. This allows you to adjust the speaker’s HF output and user preferences with position switches on the rear of the speaker. The phase alignment ensures the handoff between the drivers is smooth, and the result is a sound signature that gives you complete control over your speakers.
